Pipeline Owners Dispute Study: Operators of the All American Pipeline disputed the findings of a study commissioned by Santa Barbara County that concluded that it would cost more to ship oil from Gaviota by pipeline than by tanker to Los Angeles refineries. The study was intended to resolve questions about transporting oil produced by a consortium of oil companies led by Chevron Corp. from platforms off Point Arguello. Production from the project remains on hold while the county reviews a new permit request to ship oil by tanker after the Coastal Commission’s revocation of an earlier tanker permit.
