CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA : Section of Aqueduct Closed for Repair

A 107-mile stretch of the California Aqueduct between the Tehachapi Mountains and Silverwood Lake has been closed until Feb. 5 to permit new construction, renovation, cleanup and repair work, the state Department of Water Resources said. Officials said other systems will be used to deliver water during the relatively low-usage period, and there should be little effect on agencies receiving water from the State Water Project.
