Changes in Eastern Bloc

There have been only a few events of a global importance since the celebration at the end of World War II for which mankind had the right to pat himself on the back for the fulfillment of his God-given destiny as the dominant species on this planet: the landing of the first men on the moon, the accomplishment of 4 1/2 decades of world peace, and now the latest manifestation of the human spirit’s unquenchable goodness and righteousness--the astonishing resurgence of the spirit of the people of Czechoslovakia, who have given the power of their nation back to the people through the sheer force of their numbers.

To see democracy restored there should be the prayer of every freedom-loving individual, for these were not a people who deserved to suffer the tyrannies of a Hitler and a Stalin. When parliamentary democracy is restored once again in that country, may the Hussite hymn of joy ring out in every heart for the great people of Czechoslovakia, for then we can all acknowledge the actual end of World War II.
