Mader’s Second Run Wins in the Giant Slalom
Austrian Guenther Mader turned in a scintillating second run to win a men’s World Cup giant slalom Saturday at Mont-Ste-Anne, Quebec.
With a combined time of two minutes, 31.04 seconds, Mader defeated first-run leader Ole Christian Furuseth of Norway by a quarter of a second.
West Germany’s Regine Moesenlechner posted the first victory of her 15-year World Cup career in a women’s super giant slalom on Colorado’s Vail Mountain, crossing the finish line in 1 minute 25.67 seconds.
Moesenlechner, 28, edged Austrian Sigrid Wolf by 29-hundredths of a second.
