Share

A replacement is being sought for Virginia Donohugh as director of the Historical and Cultural Foundation of Orange County, a promoter of local ethnic culture.

Board president Lydia Wang Himes said Donohugh, hired in 1986 as the Irvine-based foundation’s first full-time staff member, resigned Nov. 22 “because she needed to do something different.” Himes said she did not know Donohugh’s future plans, and Donohugh could not be reached for comment.

The nonprofit foundation, which works to preserve and enrich understanding of ethnic groups’ heritage and arts through exhibits and a range of other events, should have a new director by early next month, said Linda Leung Lau, who founded the organization in 1985.

“Virginia was totally dedicated to the idea of promoting cross-cultural understanding,” Lau said. Under Donohugh’s direction, the foundation co-sponsored the Kaleidoscope Festivalin Irvine last July.
