BUENA PARK : Residents Seek Help in Zoning Battle

Share

A group of Buena Park residents is seeking city support in its fight against the city of Anaheim, which may allow an auto-dismantling operation to open up several blocks from a residential area.

The residents live along Draceana Drive in south Buena Park just half a block from the Anaheim city border and several blocks north of Lincoln Avenue.

The problem, the residents say, is that Anaheim has been asked to issue a conditional-use permit to an auto parts company for land at 2925 W. Lincoln Ave., not far from their homes.

According to Dan Stadler, whose house borders the now-vacant lot, current zoning for the area is light industrial, but Anaheim may change that zoning to limited industrial with a conditional permit to allow the auto parts company to operate at the site.

“It is totally inconsistent to the land around it,” Stadler said. “Anaheim is only interested in the tax revenue.”

In an appeal to the City Council, residents asked for legal support from the city of Buena Park to challenge the ruling.

In response to their request, Mayor Donald L. Bone noted that the council was opposed to the move and the city staff was consulting with Anaheim officials.
