‘Democrats Find No Life in the Party’

Share

The headline “Orange County Democrats Find No Life in the Party” (Nov. 26) is shocking to me because my club, the Democratic Club of West Orange County, has a growing membership of 200. There are several active grass-roots Democratic clubs and Assembly district committees that meet regularly, study issues, register voters, walk precincts for candidates and help Democratic candidates keep the Democratic Party alive--not rich, but alive and responsive in Orange County.

Those of us Democrats who have been active in our communities believe, along with the Central Committee, that it is vital to keep working for the party and the programs where Democrats have shown leadership: child care, health, housing, economic justice and the right of women to choose whether they will or will not have an abortion. We recognize the struggles we face living in this Republican stronghold of Orange County. Nobody promised us a rose garden.
