Sting Gets Stung: “Threepenny Opera,” a revival of the Bertolt Brecht-Kurt Weill musical starring British rock star Sting as Mack the Knife, will close Dec. 31 after only a two-month run, a spokesman for the musical has said. It will have played 65 regular performances and 20 previews. The musical, which received largely negative reviews, has played to steadily dwindling audiences since it opened Nov. 5 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater. For the week after Thanksgiving, it grossed $435,816, a little more than 80% of capacity at the theater.
