P.M. BRIEFING : Reuters Has New Man in Havana
Reuters said today that Pascal Fletcher, a 30-year-old Briton, has taken over as the news and information organization’s chief representative in Havana.
Fletcher moves to the post after two years as Reuters’ correspondent in Zambia. His predecessor in Havana, Gilles Trequesser, was expelled July 2, charged with filing a fallacious report. Reuters rejected the accusation.
Cuban authorities refused to reconsider their decision, but agreed to accredit a new Reuters representative.
Few major Western media have permanent correspondents in Cuba, and none of the American newspapers or news agencies do.
