Grenades Hit U.S. Facilities in Manila
Two rifle grenades hit a U.S. Embassy housing complex today, damaging property but causing no injuries, the embassy said.
A spokesman said the grenades were fired by unidentified men at noon and struck the seafront housing and recreational complex.
The attack occurred a week after President Corazon Aquino, with U.S. support, quelled the sixth and bloodiest coup attempt against her.
Defense Secretary Fidel Ramos warned Wednesday that although the rebellion was crushed, mutinous troops could still make guerrilla attacks, including assassinations.
