LOCAL : Mission Viejo Power Restored
Electrical service was restored early today to all of the 2,200 homes and businesses in Mission Viejo that lost power when an underground electrical cable failed, a Southern California Edison spokesman said.
The blackout occurred at 10:22 p.m. Wednesday evening. Most of the affected homes had their power restored within an hour, all within an hour and 45 minutes, SCE spokesman Steve Nelson said.
“All of the load has been restored and we will be replacing the cable in the near future,” he said. The rapid restoration of power was accomplished by switching circuits around the failed cable.
The area affected was west of the San Diego Freeway, east of Madero Street, north of Los Alisos Boulevard and south of Alicia Parkway.
