Actor Don Johnson, best known for his role on the television series “Miami Vice,” testified today that he found a man in his Bel-Air hotel room “going through my wife’s things” in an alleged burglary attempt.

Johnson was the key witness at a preliminary hearing in West Los Angeles Municipal Court for Henry Rosenbaum, ordered to stand trial on one felony count for allegedly burglarizing the Hotel Bel Air suite of Johnson and his wife, actress Melanie Griffith, on Jan. 29.

Johnson testified that he returned to the hotel after having dinner with Griffith, his preschool-age son, Jesse, and several friends, and found Rosenbaum “underneath the sink in the master bedroom on his knees.”

“He was bent over my wife’s overnight bag. He was going through my wife’s things.”

Johnson said he left Griffith and his son in the living room, went back to the bedroom and ordered Rosenbaum not to move. He then ordered him to lie down on the floor and put his hands behind his head. Johnson said he searched the man, then ordered Rosenbaum to get on his knees and face a chair while he waited for hotel security to arrive.

Rosenbaum’s attorney, William Graysen, who gained notoriety for defending Zsa Zsa Gabor in her cop-slapping trial, made a motion to dismiss the felony charges on the grounds that Griffith did not testify today. Municipal Court Judge Richard G. Berry rejected the request.
