Beverly Hills : Volunteer Aides Needed
The newly formed Consumer Housing Information Service for Seniors is looking for volunteers to help older people deal with housing problems.
Volunteers will be given two days of training, beginning Jan. 16. They will be informed about a variety of options available to senior citizens, including shared housing, property-tax relief programs, home repair and weatherization programs, congregate care facilities, retirement communities, subsidized senior housing and home-equity conversion.
The program is being sponsored by WISE Senior Services, an agency formerly known as Westside Independent Services to the Elderly, together with the county’s Area Agency on Aging and the American Assn. of Retired Persons.
Further information is available from Carol Sussman at (213) 394-9871.
