Brothers to Stand Trial in Slayings at Church
Two half-brothers were ordered Friday to stand trial for the July 21 shotgun attack in a South-Central Los Angeles church that left two women dead and disabled another worshiper with a crippling leg wound.
Los Angeles Municipal Judge David M. Horwitz ordered defendants Albert Lewis, 27, and Anthony Oliver, 33, to appear Dec. 21 for arraignment on murder charges. Prosecutors have said they intend to seek the death penalty against the two men for the shooting at the Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ.
The two are both accused of two counts of homicide in the deaths of Patronella (Pat) Luke, 35, and Eddie Mae Lee, 76, and one count each of attempted murder in the wounding of Luke’s 33-year-old husband, Peter.
