From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The pre-Christmas launch of space shuttle Columbia on a satellite rescue mission has been delayed one more day until at least next Thursday, NASA announced in Cape Canaveral, Fla. Ongoing problems with modifications on the launch pad were blamed for the delay. If Columbia stays on schedule for a Thursday launch, liftoff will come 21 years to the day after the launch of Apollo 8, the first manned flight around the moon, a historic Christmas voyage that took off from mobile launch platform No. 3, the same stand that will be used by Columbia.
