Eastern Bloc and Gorbachev

Your editorial “Dear Moscow: Regrets Only, Please” (Dec. 10) is to be commended. The United States never recognized the armed aggression and occupation of the Baltic states by the Soviet Union. However, President Bush continues to be “silent” concerning this unlawful and immoral control over the Baltic states. President Bush should tell Gorbachev that the Soviets should not interfere in the Baltic states’ efforts to regain their full independence and liberty for all their peoples.

It’s time for the Soviets to fill a “blank page” in their history with truth and correct the wrong of some 50 years ago with the annexation of the Baltic states.
