GARDEN GROVE : Feeding Homeless at Park to Be Discussed

Share

Complaints about an informal tradition by some residents of feeding the homeless at Pioneer Park on Sunday afternoons will be the topic of a discussion tonight by the City Council.

The complaints from residents and business operators around the park caused the city’s Community Services Commission to recommend that the council form a committee to study the feasibility of detoxification centers, no-interest loans from the city to help the homeless with first and last month’s rents, and job referral services.

Additionally, the commission recommended that the city consider toughening ordinances on “crimes which are committed by the homeless” and work with neighboring cities on enforcement.
