3 Convicted in Du Pont Extortion Attempt: Three Argentine nationals were convicted of attempting to extort $10 million from Du Pont Co. in exchange for documents the company claimed were a blueprint for manufacturing Lycra. A federal jury in Wilmington, Del., deliberated two hours before convicting Bruno Skerianz, Raul Armando Giordano and Antonio Ruben Inigo of Argentina of conspiracy and attempted extortion. Each faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Lycra is the company’s trade name for spandex, an elastic fiber used in clothing.
