NATION IN BRIEF : NEW JERSEY : 11 Indicted Over Bribery Scandal
The president of the City Council in Atlantic City, N.J., two councilmen and eight other officials and businessmen were indicted by a state grand jury on a host of charges stemming from a massive government-for-sale scandal. However, Mayor James Usry, who was among 14 politicians, public officials and businessmen held July 27 in a series of bribery and influence-peddling conspiracies, was not named in the three separate indictments. Council President Walter Collette and Councilmen Gene Dorn and Arnold Orsatti Jr. were charged with racketeering, conspiracy, bribery, accepting gifts as public officials and official misconduct.
