Man-Made Snow Creates White Magic at Park

It was not easy to make snow fall in Montebello Park, but the effect was magical on the area’s children.

It took about four hours and special machinery to shred 100 blocks of ice and create the snow, but the effort was worth it to the children. They came with sleds, saucers and other types of sliding devices to ride down a hillside of snow, a first-time experience for many of them, no doubt.

It was the second year for the snow-in-the-park event. The merchant association also has provided holiday decorations on poles along Whittier Boulevard in Montebello and a lighted Christmas tree centerpiece at the Veterans Memorial in city park.
