Cranston and Lincoln S&L; Scandal
Cranston is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law--at least that is the way I heard it.
Receiving contributions is not yet against federal or state law. Why then is the senator being attacked by The Times as if he committed a crime. I have no idea who The Times contacted as part of its opinion poll (Part A, Dec. 8), but I think, had myself, friends or associates in the Democratic Party been contacted, perhaps your poll would have been different.
Cranston is the best senator California has ever had and I would hate to see him step down under pressure from The Times or any other group until he has had his day in court.
