GM Announces More Layoffs: General Motors Corp., its earnings battered in a slumping domestic auto industry, announced more layoffs, which will bring to 2,050 the number of workers idled indefinitely at two plants that build Corsica and Beretta cars. The Detroit car maker plans to reduce production at its Wilmington, Del., plant and lay off 450 workers starting Jan. 16, a spokesman said. GM had already announced plans to cut the night shift at its Linden, N.J., plant and indefinitely lay off 1,600 employees effective Feb. 26.
