Upheaval in Romania : Israeli Medical Aid on the Way

JERUSALEM —
Israel, voicing support for the Romanian uprising, sent a plane packed with more than six tons of medical supplies Wednesday for people wounded in the battles to overthrow executed dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.
Israel is home to 274,000 Jews of Romanian descent. Romania was the only East Bloc country not to sever relations with Israel over the 1967 Middle East War.
