The cities of Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Culver City are planning Christmas tree recycling programs at several Westside locations. The trees will be ground into mulch and used in landscaping work at city parks and at other projects.

In Los Angeles, trees will be accepted from Saturday through Jan. 6 at the Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave., and at 644 S. Venice Blvd. in Venice. The collection sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In Santa Monica, residents will receive a free pine tree seedling for each tree brought to one of four collection sites. Trees will be accepted Saturday and on Jan. 6 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Clover Park, at Ocean Park Boulevard and 25th Street; Douglas Park, at Wilshire Boulevard and 25th Street; Lincoln Park, at Wilshire and Lincoln boulevards, and Los Amigos Park at 5th Street and Hollister Avenue.

The Culver City Sanitation Department will pick up and recycle trees left at curbside by residents.

West Hollywood and Beverly Hills do not have recycling programs, but residents of those cities may take trees to other Westside collection sites.
