Power Switch Thrown on Shuttle Columbia

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. —
Workers switched on the power to the shuttle Columbia on Tuesday, as they readied the spacecraft for the first of 10 missions planned for 1990.
Liftoff had been scheduled for December but was put off until Monday because it took longer than expected to prepare launching pad 39A, which has undergone a $50-million renovation.
