Tiffany Boyd, one of the country’s top collegiate softball pitchers, has withdrawn from UCLA and is planning to enroll at Cal State Fullerton and play softball for the Titans, the school said today.

Pending enrollment approval, Boyd hopes to begin classes later this month and will be eligible to play softball during the 1991 season, according to a release issued by Cal State Fullerton.

As a freshman at UCLA last season, Boyd led the Bruins to the NCAA softball championship. She pitched three of the five World Series games, giving up only one run.

Her overall record was 19-2, and she had an NCAA-leading 0.24 earned run average.

Boyd, a 1988 graduate of Woodbridge High in nearby Irvine, was quoted as saying she has several friends on the Fullerton team.
