Fans of ‘Beast’

Re “Fans Accept Turn of Events on ‘Beauty, Beast’ ”:

I was inaccurately quoted in the Dec. 14 article. I did not make any criticism of the television series “Beauty and the Beast.”

I was mortified to read what I supposedly said and devastated to think that the show’s fans, actors, writers, producers, etc., read the article and believe I could criticize the show or the character Vincent in this or any manner.

I spoke with your reporter after the two-hour season premiere movie, and my answer to her first question, “What did you think?” was “I loved it.” The magic still lives!

For me the show still has the romance, warmth, literacy and relationships and has maintained its symbolism, mystique and fantasy elements and mingled them with reality as usual.

The second episode, “Walk Slowly,” is one of the best the series has done. “Beast” may yet pull off its own resurrection. I hope so. Humanity cannot afford to lose a beauty like “Beast.”

CBS said Friday that the show will be canceled. See story on Page 9.
