Swindall Prosecutor Will Join Law Firm
U.S. Atty. Robert L. Barr Jr., who prosecuted former U.S. Rep. Pat Swindall (R-Ga.) and other public officials, announced Friday that he is resigning to become president of a conservative public-interest law firm.
Barr, 41, whose four-year term as federal prosecutor for the Northern District of Georgia would have expired in October, called a news conference to confirm reports that he is quitting effective Feb. 1 to head the Atlanta-based Southeastern Legal Foundation Inc.
Barr’s office successfully prosecuted Swindall for lying to a grand jury and successfully prosecuted Fulton County Commissioners A. Reginald Eaves and Chuck Williams and De Kalb County Commissioner John Evans for extortion.
