Times Will Sponsor 3 Home Buyer Fairs
The Times will sponsor three home buyer fairs in May.
Each of the one-day fairs is expected to attract thousands of potential buyers and feature about 100 exhibitors, including home builders, real estate brokerage companies, lenders and title-insurance companies.
Escrow firms, government-housing agencies, nonprofit groups and trade associations will also take part in the fairs, which will be held on consecutive Saturdays.
The first fair is May 12 at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds in Pomona; the second is May 19 at the Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills, and the third will be May 26 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Orange County.
Along with the exhibitors, the fairs will feature discussions by panels of Southland experts on every aspect of home buying, said Dick Barnes, The Times’ real estate editor.
“The panels will cover such topics as how to pick the right neighborhood for each home buyer’s needs, how to select a real estate agent, how to come up with a down payment and how to choose the loan that’s right for you,” Barnes said.
The fairs also will feature panels on important tax and legal issues concerning homeownership.
Some of the nation’s top real estate experts will take part in the panels, Barnes said, including reporters and columnists from The Times’ Real Estate section.
The Times has contracted with the San Francisco-based Inman Group, headed by housing expert Bradley Inman, to manage the three home buyers fairs.
“In one day under one roof, each fair will give consumers a unique opportunity to interact with all the different agencies and companies involved in home buying and other aspects of the real estate business,” Inman said.
The Times’ Real Estate section will publish coupons offering consumers a $2.50 discount off the $7.50 admission price for each fair. Children under 12 will be admitted free.
