WORLD IN BRIEF : LEBANON : Palestinian Denies Role in Jet Bombing

Terrorist suspect Ahmed Jibril, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, denied that he engineered the bombing of a Pan American jetliner over Scotland that claimed 270 lives Dec. 21, 1988. Speculation has centered on his Iran-backed group because of an Iranian airliner that was accidentally shot down by a U.S. warship earlier in 1988. In a rare interview, Jibril said reports of his involvement are “media fabrications.”
