Wineries Sue Over Election Rule: Nine premium California wineries have filed suit in federal court in Sacramento, challenging the constitutionality of a state regulation that permits the California Wine Commission to conduct an election without revealing key information to the wineries that vote. The suit claims that the commission, set up by a statewide marketing order in 1987, violates winery voters’ rights by refusing to make public a list of eligible voters and other data.
