For the Love of Lamb at Tivoli Cafe

Share

My friend Steve called to tell me that he had just discovered the world’s best lamb sandwich. “There’s this new place in Pacific Palisades,” he said, “and they make their own crusty little loaves of bread and stuff them with slices of roast leg of lamb. They’re wonderful.”

“I’m on my way,” I replied, grabbing my keys and heading for Tivoli Cafe, 15306 Sunset Blvd., (213) 459-7685.

What I found was a small, streamlined place that

is clearly related to the Il Forno family of restaurants (they even have the famous Pizza Ken on the menu). While I was there, I thought I’d sample the soup (broccoli and very good), the salad (mixed greens with balsamic vinegar, which was pretty small for $6.50), and a pizza with an extraordinarily light crust. And then I settled in to enjoy that lamb sandwich.
