Developer Gives Up Plans to Build in Canyon

A real estate developer has abandoned his two-year effort to develop Las Pulgas Canyon in Pacific Palisades and put the property up for sale.
Neighbors and the state Coastal Commission opposed Neil Senturia’s plans for one of the last undeveloped coastal canyons in Los Angeles. The 26-acre property is being advertised for $10.5 million, about $9 million more than he paid for it less than three years ago.
“We’re not ready to declare victory, but we’re thrilled that he appears to have thrown in the towel,” said Ron Wolf, president of Save Las Pulgas Canyon Inc., which opposed Senturia’s plan to build up to 50 houses in the landslide-plagued canyon.
