If New Zealand Wants Cup, Donate It to Them

U.S. skippers are filing briefs to back New Zealand’s case regarding the American’s Cup.

When New Zealand came with its 90-foot craft to challenge the United States, I said, “Why not just give it to them, if they want it so bad? It’s not that important, and who needs it?” I tell you this to prove I could care less about the silly cup.

What really bugs me is that the “unfairness” of the catamaran was but zero compared to the unfairness of New Zealand sneaking in with a huge craft and setting a date the San Diego Yacht Club could not possibly meet. They in effect were trying to yet again win any way they could except by really sailing.

In Freemantle, the New Zealand group did not have the expertise nor the craft to beat many others, so they drove everyone crazy with protest flags.

All those men so anxious to help New Zealand are all men who have no love for Dennis Conner, mostly because of his success, I imagine.

I say the New Zealand group is pathetic and so ridiculously obsessed that the charitable thing to do is hand them the cup. Let’s be charitable. Evidently, that is what they want.
