Chrysler Corp. and Austrian auto maker Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG said today that they will establish a joint venture for producing Chrysler’s popular mini-vans in Austria.

The agreement in principle between Chrysler and the Austrian engineering and automotive company provides for establishment of joint production of the Chrysler Voyager in Graz, Austria’s second-largest city, for the European market.

Under the joint venture, Chrysler and Steyr-Daimler-Puch Fahrzeugtechnick GMBH will develop Voyager spare parts specifically designed for the European market, Chrysler Chairman Lee Iacocca said at a news conference in Vienna.
