“Road House,” the violent drama starring hunks Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliott, continues its relentless drive toward the top of the Billboard rental chart, challenging the solidly entrenched champ, “When Harry Met Sally . . . .” The Sly Stallone prison drama “Lock Up” is still on the way up, climbing to No. 4. It doesn’t seem to be a big enough attraction to take over the top spot, but stranger things have happened in the Top Five. The new James Bond adventure “Licence to Kill” jumped from No. 22 to No. 11, apparently on its way to the Top Five. The sleeper theatrical hit, “Weekend at Bernie’s,” which was off to a relatively slow start, jumped 10 notches to No. 8.

* Actor-director Spike Lee’s highly acclaimed drama about race relations in Harlem, “Do the Right Thing,” which grossed more than $26 million in theaters, debuted at No. 18 on the rental chart. This high-profile movie, which is expected to get some Oscar nominations, also has Top Five potential.
