FHP Posts 31% Rise in Net Income

FHP International Corp., the Fountain Valley-based health maintenance organization and hospital operator, recorded a nearly 33% increase in net income for the second fiscal 1990 quarter, while revenue rose 38%.

Net income for the quarter ended Dec. 31 totaled $6.5 million, contrasted with $4.9 million for the like period a year earlier. Revenue increased to $222.6 million from $160.9 million.

Net income for the six-month period totaled $13.3 million, 47% higher than the $9 million reported for the first half of fiscal 1989. Revenue rose 38%, to $432.6 million from $312.9 million.
