Intel Unable to Meet Chip Demand: Intel Corp. said it cannot meet demand for its popular 386 and 386SX microprocessors, but it expects to boost production and fulfill all orders by the middle of the year. Industry analysts said Intel’s problems in meeting demand would pose no major problems for personal computer makers because many had likely overstocked and over-ordered the chips. Intel’s 386 chip is the basic brain of several models of International Business Machines’ PS/2 personal computers and most of the fastest IBM-compatible business machines.
