NATION IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Congress Warned of ‘Information Gap’

A report to Congress says poor, uneducated and isolated citizens are likely to suffer from an “information gap” in the next century unless the government sets policies to deal with advances in communications. The Office of Technology Assessment said that, given the direction of technological change, the gap is likely to increase between those who can afford and effectively use communications services and those who cannot.
