‘Merrily’ Rolling in D.C.: “Merrily We Roll Along” keeps rolling along, despite the failure of the Stephen Sondheim/George Furth show on Broadway in 1981. The latest revival will open Wednesday at Arena Stage in Washington. Sondheim has written a new introduction to the second act of this version, which stars Victor Garber and David Garrison (of “Married . . . With Children” fame), and both Sondheim and Furth are in Washington, working with director Douglas Wager. The show was revived at the Dupree Dance Studio in Los Angeles in 1983, followed by major revivals at La Jolla Playhouse in 1985 and in Seattle in 1988.
