PRAGUE, Czechoslovakia — Buyers from West Germany and the United States have offered a Czechoslovak town more than its asking price for a statue of Josef Stalin.
The CTK news agency said today that four buyers have bid for the 12-foot statue, advertised last week in a West German newspaper.
CTK said buyers are prepared to pay more than the $50,000 asking price.
The statue was put in storage during the 1968 Prague Spring reforms but reappeared after the Soviet-led invasion. It was removed again in December.
