Olympic champions Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov of the Soviet Union won the pairs title at the European Figure Skating Championships at Leningrad.
Gordeeva and Grinkov, three-time world champions, were third going into the final free program but rallied with high scores, one of them a perfect 6.0.
Natalia Lebedeva of the Soviet Union strengthened her lead in the women’s event and American-born Richard Zander of West Germany led in the men’s competition.
