GM Extends Van Nuys Shutdown: General Motors said it plans to extend the current shutdown at its Van Nuys assembly plant by one week. The plant, where about 4,000 workers build the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird, will reopen Feb. 12 instead of next Monday as initially planned. It has been closed since Dec. 22 for model changeovers. GM said it would idle 9,350 workers at three other plants in early February to trim inventories.
