Manville Corp.: The Denver-based manufacturing, mining and forest products company posted net income in 1989 of $196.8 million, contrasted with a $1.3-billion loss in 1988. Revenue in 1989 was $2.2 billion, up 6% from the previous year. The firm and its principal subsidiaries filed petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy law. The order confirming the reorganization became final in the fourth quarter of 1988, and the firm posted a $1.5-billion extraordinary charge that year, which contributed to the loss.
