5 Toss Hats in Ring for 3 Open Seats on Tustin City Council

Share

Five candidates have filed papers for three seats to be filled in the April 10 City Council election.

Thursday was the deadline to file for the unexpired two-year term left vacant by the resignation of Ronald B. Hoesterey.

The deadline for the two four-year positions will be automatically extended until Feb. 6 because council member Ursula E. Kennedy is not seeking reelection. Councilman John Kelly, 28, is the only incumbent seeking reelection and one of only two candidates to file papers for the long terms. Carole Bryant, 41, an accountant, has also filed for a four-year seat.

The other three candidates, John Butler, Berklee Maughan and Jim Potts, filed for the two-year term.

Butler, 34, is a real estate broker. Maughan, 52, is a retired chief financial officer for a Long Beach company. Potts, 36, is a supervisor for the Irvine Public Safety Department and co-owner of a manufacturing company.
