Lerner’s article touched well on many of the issues of the day and their underlying causes. The excesses of nationalism and religious fervor threaten us all. The intransigents of either, in their disdain for discussion or compromise, could destory the peace of the entire world. Likewise, the uncurbed drive for profits could change the Earth’s biosphere to the detriment of all life. A strong United Nations and World Court with enforcement powers are sorely needed today.
