WORLD IN BRIEF : PHILIPPINES : Bounty on Mutineer Raised to $227,272

The Philippine military raised the reward for the capture of Lt. Col. Gregorio Honasan, leader of a bloody coup attempt in December, to $227,272 amid concern that a new rebellion may be brewing. It also offered bounties on 20 more suspects, believed to be among hundreds involved. The bounty for Honasan is believed to be the highest offered in the Philippines for a single fugitive. It was raised by business leaders concerned about economic effects of a new coup, authorities said.
