WORLD IN BRIEF : ISRAEL : Army Punishing Rock Throwers

The army has begun punishing Palestinians who hurl rocks at Israelis by sealing off their houses, or individual rooms, with concrete blocks or bricks and mortar. The policy drew immediate criticism from civil rights groups and liberal politicians, who said the measure amounts to collective punishment. Meanwhile, Israelis buried six of their compatriots killed in a weekend bus attack in Egypt.
