Graffiti-Removal Plan Approved
The El Segundo City Council on Tuesday approved a graffiti-removal program designed to encourage residents and city employees to report graffiti so it can be removed quickly by city crews.
Jim Fauk, acting director of recreation and parks, said that although graffiti is not a serious problem in El Segundo, the city wants “to do a better job when it appears.”
“We’ve been doing this, but not in a concerted effort,” he said.
Under the program, which will be evaluated in 90 days, graffiti will be reported to the Development Services Department. City recreation and parks workers will remove it from public property and will seek written permission from owners to remove it from private property at no charge to the owners.
“The message we want to get out is that we will respond to any graffiti in the community,” Fauk said.
