DGA Nominates 21 Directors in 6 Categories for Annual Awards

The directors of “War & Remembrance,” “Lonesome Dove” and three separate “L.A. Law” episodes were nominated Thursday for outstanding achievement during 1989 by the Directors Guild of America.

They were among 21 directors nominated in six TV categories for the guild’s annual awards. The winners will be announced at a DGA dinner March 10.

The nominees:

Dramatic Specials: Dan Curtis, “War & Remembrance,” ABC; Daniel Petrie, “My Name Is Bill W.,” ABC; Simon Wincer, “Lonesome Dove,” CBS.

Comedy Series: James Burrows, “Cheers (Sisterly Love),” NBC; Barnet Kellman, “Murphy Brown (Brown Like Me),” CBS; Harry Thomason “Designing Women (They Shoot Fat Women Don’t They?),” CBS.

Dramatic Series--Night: Gabriel Beaumont “L.A. Law (Lie Down & Deliver),” NBC; Marshall Herskovitz, “thirtysomething (Love & Sex),” ABC; Eric Laneuville “L.A. Law (I’m in the Nude,” NBC; John Pasquin, “L.A. Law “To Live and Diet in L.A.),” NBC.
